How to Play

How to play Build A Football Team is one loop with two currencies. You roll a country and a year, you look at the cards the game offers, you pick one footballer, and you park that card on a 4-3-3 slot. Then you either stay in that pool, Refresh the offer, or Reroll into a new country. The experience is live on Roblox for PC, mobile, and console. Everyone shares the same 25-player lobby. This page is the control and flow guide. If you have not claimed codes or learned the lobby stack, start with Getting Started instead.

Nothing here is split-screen. Cup matches later are simulated 3D tournaments, and the plaza is where other managers walk around with a card over their head. Learn the roll first. Chemistry, cups, and captains are linked at the end of each section so you do not mix the lessons.

The roll, pick, and slot loop

Tap Build Your Squad. The game selects a nation and an era — a year stamp between 1970 and today — and shows a handful of fictional footballers from that pool. You choose one card. You do not draft the whole offer. The rest of the cards go away unless you Refresh and see a new set from the same country and year.

Put the card on its natural 4-3-3 slot when you can. The pitch is always the same eleven: LW, ST, RW in attack; three CMs; LB, two CBs, RB across the back; GK. Matching the printed position is the first chemistry rule. A striker jammed at CM might still show a big OVR, but the line out of that slot will grey out and drag the squad number. Secondary positions exist so a linked card can stay on the pitch when the primary slot is taken. Use them as a rescue, not as a default. The chemistry guide is the deep page for line colors and tags.

After the pick you have three jobs:

  1. Keep going in this country if the nation matches a collection you care about or if neighbors already share tags. A Refresh reshuffles the offer inside that pool. That is how you hunt a missing LB without throwing away a good Brazil or Spain roll.
  2. Reroll if the country is wrong for the eleven on the pitch. A Reroll replaces the pick path — new country, new year, new offer. It is the expensive button. First-week players treat it like a panic skip and then wonder why the codes stack vanished.
  3. Accept a playable card and move to the next empty slot if you are still filling the XI. Empty positions punish chemistry harder than a slightly low rating. Fill first. Optimize later with the OVR checklist.

Know the two consumables by heart. Reroll = replace one pick / leave this country. Refresh = reshuffle this shop or offer. The Rerolls and Refreshes page exists because the words look similar in a hurry. Quests and the Coin Shop refill both; they are not part of the roll UI. Farm them on the how to farm page, then come back to the pitch.

Desktop uses mouse clicks on the card tray and the pitch. Mobile uses taps; the CODES, Rewards, and Quests stack still sits on the right or bottom-right depending on orientation. Console uses the same menus with a pointer or highlighted buttons — the CONSOLE code exists because that client is supported, not because the loop is different. If a menu is hiding behind the camera, rotate the lobby view once; the buttons do not move to a second screen.

Saving, leaderboards, and the plaza

When eleven bodies are on the pitch, save the squad. That write is what the game treats as your Best Team for OVR checks, Cup eligibility, and the card that floats above your head in the lobby. If you walk away without saving, the next roll can overwrite a linked eleven you liked. Save early, save when a swap raises the number, and save before you enter Cup Mode — the tournament locks the XI you take in.

The leaderboard in the lobby ranks Best Team OVR and cup results. It is a comparison tool, not a matchmaking queue. Use it to see whether the lobby is sitting in the low 90s or already showing 100+ linked sides. Copy structure, not names. Every athlete in this game is fictional; a podium card you cannot read is still just a role plus a card type. The best team guide translates those podiums into ST / CM / CB jobs.

The plaza is the walkable lobby. Other players are real people on the same server. You can inspect the card they are flexing, stand near the shops, and jump into Build Your Squad from there. There is no local co-op on the couch. If you want a second manager in the same session, they join the Roblox experience on their own device and land in a lobby — maybe yours, maybe not.

Restart a roll when the country is wrong, not when one card in a good country is ugly. Restarting the whole session is rarely needed; saving and swapping one slot is cheaper. If you are hunting a 2026 nation for a captain, stay in that country with Refreshes and shop buys instead of Rerolling for highlights. The captains guide is the collection plan. If you are hunting a Prime, you are in the Hourly Shop, not in the roll tray.

Once the loop is boring — roll, pick, slot, save — you are ready for the pages that raise the number. Chemistry first, then the 93 OVR Cup Mode door, then a 100+ plan. Sketch the eleven on the team planner before a long roll so you are not deciding ST versus RW in the middle of a Refresh. Check updates after a patch in case the tray or the shop UI moved. Official Roblox and group links stay on the links hub.

A clean play session is quiet. You open the pitch, you take one card that fits the hole, you Refresh only inside a country you meant to farm, and you save before you wander the plaza. If you instead Reroll every ugly face in the first tray, you are not playing the loop — you are burning the stack the Getting Started page told you to keep.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common squad-building questions.

What does a single roll actually give me?

A country and a year, then a small set of cards. You pick one footballer and place it on the 4-3-3. The rest of the offer is gone unless you Refresh inside that same pool.

When should I Reroll instead of Refresh?

Refresh stays in the country and reshuffles the offer. Reroll leaves the country. If the nation is useful, Refresh. If it is not, Reroll. See Rerolls and Refreshes.

Does position matter if the OVR is high?

Yes. Natural position is the first chemistry rule. A high card in the wrong slot greys the line. Read the chemistry guide before you force a 94 into CM.

Can I play this on a phone or a console?

Yes. PC, mobile, and console all run the same Roblox lobby. The menus scale; the roll-pick-slot loop does not change.

What is the plaza for?

It is the shared 25-player lobby where you walk, inspect flexed cards, and open shops. It is not a match and not local co-op.

How do I keep a squad I like?

Save it as soon as the eleven is legal, and save again before Cup Mode because the tournament locks that XI. The Cup Mode guide covers the lock.
